Women's Tennis Edged At No. 24 Baylor, 4-3

WACO, TEXAS – Mississippi State women's tennis fell at No. 24 Baylor on Sunday afternoon in a 4-3 decision.

The Bulldogs (6-3) earned all three of their victories in singles play. In the top position, No. 107 Magda Adaloglou defeated Baylor's Isabella Harvison in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

MSU sophomore Chloé Cirotte dropped her first set to Mel Krywoj 6-2 but came back and took the next two sets 6-2 and 7-6(5). It was the 11^th win in the last 12 singles matches for Cirotte dating back to the fall.

No. 72 Emmanouela Antonaki also fell behind the Bears' Alicia Herrero 6-4 after the first set. But Antonaki battled back to win the match going 6-0 and 7-5 in the next two sets. She now sits alone at sixth all-time in school history with 70 career singles wins.

Antonaki is now two victories behind Jasmine Lee (2015-17) and Jackie Holden (1986-89), who are tied for fourth at State with 72 wins.

In doubles, Baylor's fourth-ranked duo of Krywoj and Herrero claimed a 6-2 win over the No. 24 MSU tandem of Adaloglou and Cirotte. The Baylor duo Alina Shcherbinia and Anita Sahdiieva defeated Alexandra Mikhailuk and Alessia Tagliente 6-2, to claim the doubles point for the Bears.

Ultimately in singles play, Marta Falceto, Alexandra Mikhailuk and Alessia Tagliente fell to their opponents as Baylor improved to 7-3 on the spring.

Next Up
The Bulldogs are set to host Southern Miss and James Madison in a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
