Mississippi State Men’s Tennis Set To Welcome Louisiana Friday

STARKVILLE – After posting two 7-0 shutouts to open the 2021 season, the Mississippi State men's tennis team is set to welcome Louisiana to campus Friday, January 22. The Bulldogs (2-0) will face the Ragin Cajuns (0-3) at 5 p.m. CT Friday at the Rula Tennis Pavilion.

MSU In The Oracle ITA Rankings…
In the ITA national singles rankings, State is led by senior and two-time All-American Giovanni Oradini at No. 36 in the country. Following right behind is junior Florian Broska at No. 87 nationally in singles. In doubles, the Bulldogs have two duos currently ranked with Broska and freshman Nicolas Ocana earning the nation's No. 28 spot. Rounding out the rankings is the duo of Alberto Colas and Gregor Ramskogler, coming in at 47th nationally.
Know The Foe: Louisiana
Louisiana will enter Friday's match with an 0-3 mark after falling to No. 6 Texas (7-0), Middle Tennessee (6-1) and LSU (4-3) - all on the road - to open their 2021 campaign. The Ragin' Cajuns' match at MSU is the fourth of a six-match road swing to start their season.
Ragin' Cajun head coach Mark Jeffrey (13th season) played for Mississippi State (1988-91) & was an All-American for the Bulldogs in doubles in 1988.

The Bulldogs opened the 2021 campaign last Friday by not dropping a single match in two 7-0 shutouts over Bellarmine and North Alabama in Starkville. State's Alberto Colas and Nemanja Malesevic extended their team-leading singles win streaks to four matches each. The true freshman Malesevic currently leads MSU in overall wins this season with 14.
Next Up For MSU…
After taking on Louisiana, the Bulldogs will welcome Middle Tennessee to Starkville on Friday, January 29 (the match vs. the Blue Raiders was originally scheduled for Jan. 24). Following the match, Tulane and Samford arrive in town to take on the Bulldogs Sunday, January 31.
