Diamond Dawg Gameday: Texas Southern

STARKVILLE – The No. 3 Mississippi State baseball program closes out a five-game homestand versus Texas Southern on Tuesday (April 16) at Dudy Noble Field. First pitch is slated for 6:30.

The Diamond Dawgs (31-6) moved back into the top five in each of the six major college baseball polls after a 4-0 week that included a midweek win over South Alabama and an SEC series sweep of Alabama on Super Bulldog Weekend.

The 2019 edition of the Diamond Dawgs equaled the 1989 as the fastest to 30 wins in a season, while MSU is the only Division I program to enter the 10th week of the regular season having already won 30-plus games.

Series Notes
Texas Southern

Mississippi State and Texas Southern will meet of the second time in program history on Tuesday, with Mississippi State owning a victory in the only other meeting.
State won an 11-6 decision over TSU on March 21, 2018, in the second of two midweek games that week. The night before, MSU toppled Alcorn State, 17-1.
Against the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), the Diamond Dawgs own an all-time mark of 104-9 versus the current alignment of the conference.
MSU's most common SWAC opponents are Alcorn State (16 meetings), Jackson State (60 meetings) and Mississippi Valley State (27 meetings).
Already this season, State has defeated SWAC opponents Jackson State, 17-4, on Feb. 26, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 14-1, on March 6, Grambling, 18-1, on March 13, and Mississippi Valley State, 18-5, on March 26.

Promotions
All midweek games again in 2019 will feature $2 tickets, as well as concession stands serving the $2 menu all season long at the New Dude.

The Drew Wilson 'Lil Dudes Zone located beyond the right field wall will be available when gates open, weather dependent.

For all regular season home games at Dudy Noble, MSU students will be admitted into the games for free with their student ID and Bully's Kids Club members will also receive free admission.

Dudy Noble Field Policies
Gates open two hours before first pitch on game day and the stadium gates will close one hour after the conclusion of each game. The right field terrace is a public, grill-free, first come first served area. Should fans wish to purchase ice at Dudy Noble, they will be able to do so behind the center field wall in the Left Field Lounge.

Approved coolers cannot exceed the maximum size of 10" by 10" by 10" after gates open, with coolers exceeding the restriction size prohibited. Other prohibited items include alcoholic beverages, smoking (in all areas), weapons, fireworks, electric power generators, pets, non-approved banners and signs, bicycles, any illegal substances, carts, wagons, wheeled supply carriers, personal tailgate tents (on concourse or lawn areas) and lawn chairs on sidewalks or concourse areas.

All bags are subject to search and security screening, along with items prohibited from being stored along stadium fencing and gates. MSU encourages fans to leave all unnecessary and prohibited items at home or in their vehicles to expedite security and screening procedures.
