MSU Women’s Tennis Tallies Three Victories On Day Two Of Thunderbird Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. – Mississippi State women's tennis went 3-3 on day two of the 2019 Thunderbird Invitational Saturday.
The Bulldogs kicked off the day with doubles action. Emma Antonaki and Meredith Roberts started things off with a hard-fought tiebreak victory over Jasie Dunk and Julia Rosenqvist of California 7-6(6). San Diego's Daniela Morales and Maria Tyrina then handed State its first loss of the weekend, downing Magda Adaloglou and Valeria Nikolaev 6-3.
State went 2-2 in singles in the afternoon. The 115th-ranked Adaloglou ousted Katerina Stloukalova of California in comeback fashion. After dropping the first set 6-1, the Bulldog junior rallied to take the next two sets 6-3 and 6-1.
Roberts posted an impressive three-set victory of her own, defeating Morales of San Diego, defeating the Torero by a 7-6(4), 1-6, 6-2 margin.
No. 41 Antonaki battled valiantly against California's 24th-ranked Rosenqvist but ultimately came up short in a tight three-set battle 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. MSU's Nikolaev fell to Tyrina of San Diego 6-3, 6-3.
The Bulldogs return to action on the final day of the Thunderbird Invitational Sunday, beginning with doubles at 9 a.m. CT and singles at 11:30 a.m.
