Bulldogs And Gruenewald Set To Host Auburn Friday
September 28, 2017 | Soccer
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Many students leave college and immediately have to hunt for jobs. That's not the case for Mississippi State's Payton Gruenewald.
Gruenewald is enjoying a successful senior campaign with Bulldogs (7-1-2, 1-1-1 SEC), who will host Auburn (5-3-2, 2-0-1) at 7 p.m. on Friday at the MSU Soccer Field. The match will be streamed live on SEC Network+, with Anthony Craven and Robbie Kroger on the call.
The senior from Southlake, Texas, who is double-majoring in business administration and finance, already has a job awaiting her after she graduates.
Gruenewald will be working with American Airlines as a financial analyst, based out of Fort Worth, which is close to home for her. Not only will she be near home at her new job, but she'll also have a familiar face working alongside her, as her sister Taylor also works for the airline as a financial analyst.
The opportunity came about through a summer internship she held with the company in the customer experience department and led to a full-time job offer in July.
"During my junior year, I decided to get a second major in finance because I knew I wanted to go that route and become a financial analyst," Gruenewald said. "When I had the opportunity to intern as one, I absolutely loved it. Getting to work for American Airlines and all of the perks that it involves also makes it a lot of fun."
In addition to her classwork, her time with MSU's soccer program has also proved beneficial to her future career.
"All of the upper-level finance classes have really helped, especially Financial Statement Analysis," Gruenewald said. "Playing soccer here has also helped with discipline, time management, teamwork and other things that will be useful for a career."
Promotions
