State Hosts San Jose State For Saturday Makeup Match

STARKVILLE, Miss. – A pair of teams that lost matches due to this fall's hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico will face off Saturday at the MSU Soccer Field
Mississippi State (8-5-4) hosts San Jose State (12-5-2) at 5 p.m. in what serves as a makeup game for both squads. MSU lost a pair of contests to hurricanes that hit Houston and Tampa, while the Spartans also lost a match against Rice due to Hurricane Harvey.

Through 11 home matches, State has been excellent in the friendly confines of the MSU Soccer Field, holding a 6-2-3 ledger. The Bulldogs' six home victories is the most since 2012 (8).

Scoring first has been a major player in MSU's matches this season, with the Bulldogs going 8-2-2 when scoring first.

San Jose State enters Saturday's match as the Mountain West Conference regular-season champions and reaching the semifinals of the conference tournament for the second straight year.
The Spartans return 13 letterwinners from last season's squad that finished 10-6-4 en route to reaching the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference tournament.
SJSU is led in scoring by sophomore forward Jamilecxth Becerra, who leads the Spartans in goals (7) and points scored (14). Senior forward Dorth Hoppius is tied with Becerra for the team lead in points, as well.
