State's Jasmine Lee goes 3-0 on first day of Oracle ITA Masters
MSU’s Lee Advances In Singles/Mixed At Oracle ITA Masters; State To Open ITA Southerns Friday

MALIBU, Calif. – After the first day of the Oracle ITA Masters, Mississippi State women's tennis' Jasmine Lee has advanced to the Round of 16 in the singles main draw and quarterfinals in mixed doubles.
Lee started the day with mixed doubles, pairing up with Texas A&M's Arthur Rinderknech to form the tournament's No. 1 seed. In the first round, the SEC duo outlasted Quinnipiac's Kei Ezaka and Sitilia Rencheli 7-6(6). Later in the day, the pair overpowered Wichita State's Gabriela Porubin and Drake's Vinny Gillespie 6-2 to advance to Friday's quarterfinals. There they will meet eighth-seeded Guilherme Hadlich and Luisa Stefani of tournament host Pepperdine at 12 p.m. CT.
In singles action Thursday, the All-American Lee, currently ranked eighth nationally, won the last five games of her opening-round match to down Austin Peay's Lidia Yanes Garcia 6-1, 7-5 and advance to the Round of 16. On Friday, the sixth-seeded Lee will face Oklahoma State's Katarina Adamovic at 1 p.m. CT.
ITA Southern Regional Championships Start Friday
Also on Friday, other members of MSU's team will start play in the ITA Southern Region Championships, hosted by the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Ala. In singles, Bulldog newcomer Sara Lizariturry will face Samford's Annika Hepp, MSU's Caroline Kelly plays Louisiana Tech's Jazmin Britos, and State's Lisa Marie Rioux, a 9-16 seed, matches up with Louisiana Monroe's Tiffany Mylonas. Bulldogs Anastasia Rentouli and Madison Harrison received byes for the first round as top 16 seeds.
In doubles, Kelly and Rentouli are set to face Ole Miss' Arianne Hartono and Brooke Stevens to open competition. The Bulldog tandem of Lizariturry and Rioux received a bye for the first round as a 5-8 seed.
"It has been a busy few weeks of travel and tournament play," head coach Daryl Greenan said. "We have had plenty of highlights but most importantly we have seen progress from each player. I am looking forward to seeing our girls compete against the best players from our region."
