Rick Argro was hired as an associate head track and field coach at Mississippi State on Nov. 3, 2026, coming to Starkville after spending 11 seasons at Florida State.
During his tenure with the Seminoles, he coached 76 All-Americans, including 43 first-team selections, 29 ACC champions and eight ACC MVPs. His athletes earned 14 All-America honors during the 2021 season, and he helped lead Florida State to the 2022 ACC Indoor Championship.
Argro's athletes achieved success across multiple events, highlighted by the 2019 men's 4x100m relay team, which set an NCAA Championship record with a time of 38.08 and finished as the national runners-up. He guided several standout sprinters, including Darryl Haraway, who claimed the 2017 ACC Indoor titles in the 60m and 200m, and Bryand Rincher, who earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors during both the 2019 indoor and outdoor seasons.
Most recently, during the 2026 season, two of his athletes earned All-America honors. Argro also coached the ACC champion in the men's 100m, along with one silver-medal and two bronze-medal finishes.
With the Seminoles, Argro led the 2025 men's sprinters to fifth-place finishes at both the ACC Indoor and Outdoor Championships. The Seminoles captured three gold medals and earned five First Team All-ACC selections during the outdoor season. Under Argro's guidance, freshman Micahi Danzy set program, ACC and meet records in the 400m with an NCAA-leading time of 44.38, ranking 22nd in collegiate history and seventh in U20 history. Danzy also holds the ACC men's 60m record.
That same season, Neo Mosebi continued Florida State's five-year winning streak in the men's 100m at the ACC Championships with a winning time of 10.08, while the 4x100m relay captured its second consecutive ACC title.
Prior to returning to FSU as a coach in 2015, Argro established himself as a high school and private coach in Central Florida. At The First Academy in Orlando, he led the boys' program to three consecutive state runner-up finishes and guided the girls' team to back-to-back top-eight state finishes while producing 15 individual state champions.
He also helped develop nationally-recognized sprinters, including Marvin Bracy, Levonte Whitfield and Teahna Daniels, who were among the nation's top-ranked high school 100m runners from 2011-13. Bracy would go on to compete for the Seminoles and represent Team USA at the 2016 Olympics. Daniels also competed on Team USA's silver medalist 4x100m relay at the Tokyo Olympic Games after winning a bronze medal two years earlier in the same event at the 2019 World Championships.
As an athlete, Argro competed for the Seminoles, where he was part of two All-American 4x100m relay teams and earned All-ACC honors. He was also a captain of FSU's first men's track and field national championship team in 2006.
