Four Bulldogs Invited To USA Baseball Training Camp

STARKVILLE – Four members of Mississippi State's roster will have the opportunity to don the Stars and Stripes this summer.
Pitchers Jack Bauer, Ryan McPherson and Tomas Valincius along with outfielder Jacob Parker were all invited to USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Training Camp in Cary, North Carolina next month. The Diamond Dawg quartet will be competing for a roster spot on the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
McPherson - along with current MSU teammate Ace Reese - were members of the Collegiate National Team last year that traveled to Japan. Valincius also took part in training camp last summer. Bauer has also pitched for USA Baseball's 16/17U National Team Development Program and 18U team trials.
Since 1984, 23 Diamond Dawgs (17 players, six coaches) have been selected to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
National Team Training Camp participants will be divided into two teams – Stars and Stripes – to play three doubleheaders against various opponents from the Appalachian League in North Carolina and Virginia from June 27-29. The annual Stars vs. Stripes five-game series will be held at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary from June 30-July 4.
The USA Baseball Collegiate National Team will be announced on July 5. Those selected will take part in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship in Taichung City, Taiwan from July 11-15 against collegiate players representing China, Japan and Taiwan.
