Faircloth Earns D1Softball All-American Status
May 26, 2026 | Softball
OKLAHOMA CITY – Mississippi State pitcher Alyssa Faircloth has been named a Second Team All-American by D1Softball.
Faircloth was dominant down the stretch, leading MSU in strikeouts and ERA in conference play before posting a historic performance in the Eugene Regional.
The recognition is MSU's 34th All-America honor in program history, and she is the 12th individual to reach that status. She joins teammate Peja Goold as the first Bulldog pitchers to earn All-America recognition since 2002, and they are the only pair of pitchers to earn the honors in the same season. Goold was a Second Team selection by Softball America last week.
Both pitchers earned NFCA All-Region honors and are eligible for selection to the NFCA All-America teams that will be announced tomorrow. They each won the SEC Newcomer of the Year from various outlets as well.
Faircloth has made a team-leading 40 appearances, including 24 starts, in the circle. She leads the team with 16 wins, 175.2 innings and four saves.
The junior is one of the nation's top strikeout pitchers. She leads the SEC with 264 strikeouts, which ranks fifth in the nation and is a school record. She is also fifth nationally in strikeouts per seven innings (10.52) and fourth in strikeout rate (37.3 percent). Along the way, the Northport, Alabama, native broke the MSU single-season record with 68 strikeouts looking.
Entering the Women's College World Series, Faircloth ranks fifth nationally in fielding independent pitching (2.07), No. 16 in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.33) and No. 14 in WHIP (0.98). Her .181 batting average against that would be top-five in MSU single-season history.
She's been even better in the postseason, setting MSU NCAA Tournament single-year records for wins (3), strikeouts (29), strikeouts looking (10), complete games (2) and shutouts (2). Faircloth threw the first postseason no-hitter in program history at No. 12 Oregon while striking out 10 then followed that performance with 14 strikeouts to clinch the regional title against Saint Mary's (CA).
Faircloth and the Bulldogs will make their first Women's College World Series appearance on Thursday, May 28, facing No. 4 Texas Tech at 11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
