Rifflart Brings Home Decathlon Gold

AUBURN, Ala. – Mississippi State track and field concluded the second day of the SEC Outdoor Championships, highlighted by another individual title, a bronze-medal finish, and multiple personal bests.
Sacha Rifflart got the day started for the Bulldogs, earning State's first SEC title in the event in 24 years. Rifflart won six of the 10 events in the decathlon, never losing his lead on either day of competition. His score of 7,507 points ranks him 19th nationally and is the fourth-highest point total in MSU history.
Nelly Jemeli earned her first SEC podium finish, finishing bronze in the 3000m steeplechase. Her time of 9:47.10 earned her a third-place finish and a new program record.
Roury McCloyen made his fourth consecutive appearance in an SEC shot put final, putting up a 19.43m effort to finish fifth.
Nicholas Fakorede earned a spot in his first SEC 100m final, running 10.18 for a time-qualifying spot. The final will be held tomorrow evening. Â
Tomorrow will be the final day of competition at the conference championships, with several Bulldogs competing both on track and in the field events. The meet will be available to stream on SECN+.
