Davis Selected To Stopper Of The Year Midseason Watch List

STARKVILLE – Ben Davis' contributions at the back end of Mississippi State's bullpen haven't gone unnoticed.
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) named the Diamond Dawgs' closer to its Stopper of the Year midseason watch list. Davis has appeared in 15 games – all in relief – and is 0-1 with five saves, a 4.30 earned run average, 35 strikeouts and only six walks in 29 1/3 innings.
The senior right-hander from Booneville was also on the preseason watch list for the honor. Jonathan Holder (2013), Jacob Lindgren (2013) and Landon Sims (2021) have all been finalists for the Stopper of the Year award.
Davis is one of 61 pitchers tabbed to the midseason watch list. Finalists will be announced on June 3 and the winner on June 12 during the College World Series.
