Kid Coach is a partnership between Children's of Mississippi and the Mississippi State Bulldogs to salute pediatric patients. Their inspirational stories remind us just how truly courageous these young people are.Â

This week's Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach is RJ Davis of Ridgeland.
 Â
You would never know from his bright smile and outgoing personality, but RJ is living with sickle cell disease, a condition that can cause episodes of extreme pain. It has meant numerous hospital visits and ongoing care from his team at Children's of Mississippi Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. But in November 2024, RJ received a bone marrow transplant—a major step toward a healthier life. Â

Now 12 years old, RJ makes friends everywhere he goes, especially with other kids in the hospital. His family says he always chooses joy!  RJ loves building Legos, collecting Hot Wheels and playing video games. He also enjoys sports – both watching and playing!  Â
