#10 Men’s Tennis Narrowly Falls to #3 Texas On Monday

STARKVILLE – The 10th-ranked Mississippi State men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker to No. 3 Texas on Monday inside the Rula Tennis Pavilion.
The Bulldogs jumped on the reigning ITA Indoor National Championships, winning the doubles point with wins on courts one and three, taking an early 1-0 lead in the match.
The marathon match saw all six singles courts go to a third set on Monday, with Mississippi State earning wins on courts three and four from Mario Martinez Serrano and Raphael Vaksmann.
The match ultimately came down to court six, where Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes was making his fifth appearance of the season. After Ferrer Guimaraes took a 5-4 advantage in the final set, Texas' Lucas Marionneau was able to win the final three games of the set to take the match 7-5 and give the Longhorns the victory.
