State Comes Up Short To The Aggies

COLLEGE STATION, Texas โ Mississippi State dropped a hard-fought match to the No. 14 Texas A&M Aggies. ย

The Bulldogs came in hot against the Aggies leading set one five times and tying it 10 before coming up short 25-22. Set two wasn't much different with State having 11 lead changes and earning 11 kills before falling 25-20. The last set the Bulldogs kept with the lead changes earning 14 and going on a 5-0 scoring run at the end of the set. State fought hard to extend the game but ultimately fell 28-26.

Lindsey Mangelson led the team in kills with nine while Paloma Routaboul picked up eight. Gha'Naye Whitfield-Moss, Noella Obi, and Bernadita Aguilar earned three kills apiece. State out-blocked the Aggies 9.0-7.0. Obi and Aguilar recorded 2.0 and 2.5 of those, respectively.

Ava Anderson had a career-high three service aces that gave State its momentum back in set three. Whitfield-Moss collected two aces, and Adriana Jeanpierre and McKenna Yates picked up one as well.

Aguilar led the team in digs with 10. Mangelson and Yates earned seven and six, respectively. Erin Kline picked up a season-high 23 assists.

The Bulldogs will be back in Starkville at Newell-Grissom on Friday, October 9th. First Serve is set for 5 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on SECN+.
