
Bulldogs Leave Rocky Top With Top-15 Victory

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Mississippi State earned their second top 25 victory of the season in Tennessee, where they took down the 15th-ranked Lady Vols, 77-62.

The beginning of the game was a defensive minded contest, with only a combined 21 points between the two teams in the first quarter. State scored 26 points in the second, including a 9-0 run to end the half, to enter the locker room with a 9-0 lead. The third quarter saw the Bulldogs take the lead and they would never relinquish it, leading by as many as 20.

Kharyssa Richardson scored 20+ points for the third time in SEC play this season, as she finished the contest with 21 points on 9-11 shooting. Richardson has only scored 20+ points four times in her career, with three of them coming in conference play in her first season in the Maroon and White.

Trayanna Crisp knocked down a trio of three pointers to reach 15 points, as well as securing five rebounds and swiping three steals. The senior was a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.

Madison Francis collected her sixth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, her 15th game in double-figures. The freshman also rejected a pair of shots in the contest.

Favour Nwaedozi collected her tenth double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Nwaedozi went 7-8 from the stripe for the second time in as many games.

The Bulldogs will be back in action when they welcome Missouri to Humphrey Coliseum. Tipoff for the contest is set for 2 p.m. on February 1.
