Bulldogs End Non-Conference Play Undefeated

STARKVILLE - The Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 10 after a 3-1 victory over South Alabama tonight.
Tonight's win marks the 10th straight victory for the Bulldogs, tying for the second-best performance in program history. The Bulldogs have played 34 sets this season, only dropping four to opponents so far.
The Bulldogs are one of two schools in the SEC that remain undefeated this season. At the beginning of the day, State was one of 12 programs nationally that had not dropped a match this season.
Lindsey Mangelson picked up her fourth consecutive double-double, tallying 21 kills and 13 digs. Bernardita Aguilar earned her first career double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs.
The Bulldogs totaled 63 kills, which is a season high for the squad. Mangelson led the squad with 21, followed closely by Mele Corral-Blagojevich, who scored a career high of 15 kills.
Noella Obi led the squad in total blocks, earning marks for a new career best. The team totaled 61 digs, led by McKenna Yates, who earned 17.
Cayley Hanson picked up a career high of 51 assists this match. She also tallied three kills, three blocks and a service ace.
Four Bulldogs scored in the double digits tonight, with Aguilar and Corral-Blagojevich picking up career highs. Aguilar scored 15 while Corral-Blagojevich scored 16.5 points.
At the conclusion of the day, Mangelson leads the conference in points, totaling 168.5 over ten matches, and averaging 5.81 points per set.
The Bulldogs will return to action next Friday, traveling to Gainesville, Florida, to open conference play against the Gators.
