Golfweek Names Weed Preseason All-American

STARKVILLE – Avery Weed was named a Third-Team Preseason All-American by Golfweek, the organization announced on Thursday.

Weed, a junior from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, earned two different All-American Honors at the end of the 2024-25 season after leading the Bulldogs with a 71.67 scoring average. She collected her first two individual victories during her sophomore campaign at the Mason Rudolph Championship and The Ally.

The recognition from Golfweek marks the first time Weed has earned preseason All-American honors in her career. She enters the season with a career 72.31 average, which would give her the third-best career scoring average for any Bulldog in program history. She has also carded the fourth-most rounds in the 60s history and the sixth-most par or better rounds in program history in just two seasons.

Weed and the Bulldogs are set to begin the 2025-26 campaign at the Carmel Cup beginning tomorrow, August 29.
