Cross Country Ranked Sixth In SEC Preseason Poll
August 26, 2025 | Cross Country
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State cross country team lands in sixth in this year's 2025 SEC Preseason Poll, in a vote of the league's head coaches.
The Bulldogs made a nine-place jump from last year's poll, where they were seeded 15th in the conference. The team finished 11th at the 2024 SEC Championships and 10th at the 2024 South Region Championships.
State boasts 10 returners from last year's cross country squad, highlighted by Ramat Jimoh and Gabrielle Boulay, who both hold the program record in the 6k. Both athletes were the first to earn All-Region honors for the Bulldogs in nearly a decade, after both finishing in the top 25 at the 2024 South Region Championships.
The team adds seven newcomers, four of whom competed in the 2025 track and field season in the long-distance races. Naomi Jepleting, Milicent Kemboi and Nelly Jemeli will compete in their first collegiate cross country season after rewriting the program record book in the outdoor distance races.
The Bulldogs kick off the season this weekend, racing in the Twilight XC Classic in Memphis, Tennessee, on Saturday evening.
