Perry Tabbed To Hermann Trophy Watch List
August 14, 2025 | Soccer
ST. LOUIS – Mississippi State captain Ally Perry was one of 43 players named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List by United Soccer Coaches on Thursday. She is one of four SEC players to be recognized.
Â
The Hermann Trophy is presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club and is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by voting of Division I head coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
Â
The award is named in honor of the late Robert Hermann, the legendary St. Louis businessman and soccer executive who founded the National Professional Soccer League, the first pro soccer league in the United
States, which later became the North American Soccer League. He was inducted in the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame in 2012.
Â
Perry's preseason honors are numerous. She was also named a Midfielder to Watch by United Soccer Coaches last week, one of five SEC players on this year's list. She was a First Team selection at midfielder in TopDrawerSoccer's Preseason Best XI and is ranked as the No. 10 player in the country by the outlet.
Â
Perry earned First Team All-SEC honors last season after leading the Bulldogs in goals (10), points (24), shots (96) and shots on goal (41). She ranked 10th in the SEC in goals per game (0.45), total goals and points last year and tied the school record with five game-winning goals, which ranked No. 17 nationally. She recorded at least one point in 50 percent of State's matches in 2024.
Â
The Frisco, Texas, native was a First Team All-Region selection last fall.
Â
The 2025 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Women's All-America Council from a list of returning 2024 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2025 Hermann Trophy semifinalists on Dec. 2 at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2025 recipient will be announced on Jan. 9, 2026, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis.
Â
MSU saw Macey Hodge named a Hermann Trophy semifinalist last fall, the first in program history. The Bulldogs' first watch list recipient was Kennedy White in 2023.
