
Cook Notches Back-To-Back Runner-Up Finishes

STARKVILLE – Incoming freshman Jackson Cook put together back-to-back runner-up finishes in his most recent summer tournaments.

The West Point, Mississippi native placed second at the Mississippi State Amateur and tied for second at the Spirit of America Golf Classic.

The State Amateur was played this season at Grand Bear Golf and Country Club in Saucier, Mississippi. Cook fired under-par rounds all four days, highlighted by a 5-under 67 in round three, to finish the event at 11-under.Â

Current Bulldog Drew Wilson tied for 12th while alumnus David Beard was right behind Cook in a tie for third.Â

Cook racked up his second runner-up finish in as many starts at the Spirit of America Golf Classic in Decatur, Alabama. Starting the event 1-over through two rounds, he closed the tournament with rounds of 67 and 70 to finish at 4-under.
Cook was ranked the No. 1 junior golfer in Mississippi according to the AJGA Rolex Rankings. He won the Mississippi Boys Junior Amateur in 2021 and 2023 and won four-consecutive team MAIS Class 3A State Championships with Oak Hill Academy.
