May 27, 2025 | Women's Golf
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Mississippi State's Avery Weed was named to the All-American Honorable Mention Team, the Women's Golf Coaches Association announced on Tuesday. Weed earns the honor after a stellar sophomore season in the Maroon and White.
Â
Weed, a native of Ocean Springs, Mississippi, posted a team-leading 71.67 average throughout her second season in Starkville. She was only 4-over against par throughout the duration of the season. Â She earned two individual victories this season at the Mason Rudolph Championship and The Ally, both coming in the fall portion of the season. She placed inside of the top 20 in eight of 11 stroke-play tournaments this season, including three top 15 finishes in the postseason to conclude the year.
Â
Weed led the Bulldogs with 20 par or better rounds, the fourth of any Bulldog in program history in a single season. She also led the team with 10 rounds in the 60s this year, which made her only the third Bulldog to collect 10 or more rounds in the 60s in a single season. She has collected 12 throughout her short career, which ranks third in program history.
Â
Weed becomes the eighth Bulldog to earn an All-American honor from the WGCA. She continues the trend of excellent play for the Bulldogs, as she earned the fourth honor for Mississippi State in the past four seasons. Â
