
Bulldogs Make Waves In The Swamp

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State track and field concluded the Tom Jones Memorial, hosted by the University of Florida, on Saturday afternoon.
The day began with a top-three finish in the women's 100m, with Rickyla Fagan running 11.58, just over her best.
Sherman Hawkins earned the first personal best of the day, running 46.43 in the 400m to finish second overall.
The field events had their fair share of action, with Manie Mevo matching her season's best of 12.54m in the triple jump to finish seventh. Hammer throw standout Maire Rougetet threw 64.68m to finish sixth overall in the invite section, as the only freshman in the field.
NCAA Indoor 800m runner-up Abdullahi Hassan opened his season in the 800m in the afternoon. Hassan ran a personal best of 1:45.39 to beat the field by over a second. His finish is the fourth fastest in program history, and third fastest in the NCAA this season.
Kyndall Sessom has continued her streak of improvement in the 100m this season, clocking in at 11.43 over the distance. This time is a personal best and extends her MSU No. 4 all-time placement.
The day concluded in the women's and men's 4x400m relays. The men's squad, consisting of Hawkins, Cooper Rodgers, Hassan and Cyrus Jacobs Jr. ran a season's best of 3:06.84 to finish ninth overall.
The Bulldogs will conclude the regular season at home, competing in the Maroon and White Tune Up in two weeks.
