
State Sits Above Cutline Heading Into Final Round Of Stroke Play At SEC Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. – After two rounds of stroke play at the SEC Championship, Mississippi State women's golf sits in a tie for seventh place at 7-over par. The Bulldogs will look to be one of the top-eight teams on the leaderboard at the conclusion of stroke play tomorrow to advance to the match play portion of the tournament.

Samantha Whateley continues to sit in the top 10 of the leaderboard through two rounds. The sophomore from Johannesburg, South Africa, finished even par on the round. This is the second time in Whateley's career that she has been under-par after two rounds. She enters the final round of action five strokes off the individual lead.

Izzy Pellot carded an even-par day on Tuesday. The junior strung together a team-leading four birdies during the day. She sits at five-over with 18 holes remaining in stroke play.

Avery Weed rounds out the Bulldogs inside of the top 20. Weed is 1-over par after shooting a 3-under round in the opening day. She sits tied for 19th, eying her ninth career finish inside of the top 20.
