Bulldog Bats Lead Way To Midweek Run-Rule Victory

Steven Spalitta had a big night at the plate for the Diamond Dawgs, going 2-for-3 with his first-career home run and three RBIs. Gehrig Frei, Dylan Cupp and Hunter Hines all had doubles as part of State's 11-hit attack.
Hines drove in four runs to put his career RBI total at 198, just one behind Will Clark's eighth-place ranking in MSU program history.
Six Bulldog pitchers limited the Jaguars to only three total hits. Ryan McPherson earned his first career start and had four strikeouts, allowed just one hit and walked no one over two innings of work. He got the win to bring his record to 4-0.
On Deck:
Mississippi State stays in Starkville to host the Florida Gators for an Easter weekend series. Friday's game is set to start at 7 p.m. and will be televised on SEC Network. Saturday's first pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN. Sunday's game will start at 2 p.m. on ESPN2.

- McPherson made his first career start on the mound.
- Spalitta's home run in the bottom of the third was the first of his career. It also gave the Bulldogs back-to-back games with pinch hit home runs.
- Tuesday's win marked the Bulldogs' seventh run-rule victory.
