STARKVILLE – Head coach Sam Purcell announced the addition of Trayanna Crisp from North Carolina on Monday.
Crisp, a 5-8 guard from Goodyear, Arizona, spent one season with the Tar Heels. She played in 28 games, making one start against North Carolina A&T. Crisp averaged 5.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assist per game. She collected double-digit point totals in six games for North Carolina this season, including a season-best performance of 19 against Louisville, where she went 7-12 from the floor and 3-6 from distance.
Prior to her time in Chapel Hill, Crisp spent two seasons at Arizona State. In two seasons, she averaged 8.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. During her sophomore campaign, she played in 31 games, making 28 starts. She averaged 12.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game. She scored in double-figures 24 times that season, including a career high 23 points against Washington, where she also collected seven rebounds and two steals.
Coming out of high school, Crisp was the No. 73 overall prospect according to ESPN. She won two state championships and was named the 5A Player of the Year her sophomore campaign. She was named to The Arizona Republic's All-Arizona team her senior season after leading Goodyear Millenium High School to a third state championship appearance.
Crisp is the second portal addition to Purcell's '25-26 roster after announcing Kharyssa Richardson last week. Also joining next year's squad are three top 100 espnW prospects: Jaylah Lampley (No. 38), Madison Francis (No. 39) and Nataliyah Gray (No. 95). The trio ranked 10th in ESPN's Top 25 Recruiting Class Rankings, which was the second-best class in program history behind the sixth-ranked 2019 class.
