Competition in Aggieland began with the heptathlon 100m hurdles, with Kennedy Jackson running 13.55 to finish fourth. She went on to jump 1.59m in the high lump and threw a personal best of 11.13m in the shot put. Jackson closed the day running 24.61 in the 200m, with 3,294 points, sitting in seventh place. Jackson will continue competition in the heptathlon tomorrow morning in the long jump.
Bair dominated the competition throughout the first day of the decathlon at Texas A&M, opening the day with 10.30 in the 100m. He jumped 7.24m in the long jump, threw 13.34m in the shot put and jumped 1.92m in the high jump, maintaining his lead in the standings through all three events. With a massive personal best 46.35 in the 400m, he closed out the first day of competition with 4,292 points. Bair looks to complete the decathlon, starting with the 110m hurdles tomorrow morning.
Just across state lines, a small group of Bulldogs began competition at the Crimson Tide Invitational, hosted by Alabama. Caleb Kaplan extended his MSU No. 5 all-time mark in the hammer throw, with a personal best of 58.16m. The day ended with the women's discus and 5000m, with Kaitlyn Walker and Reese Terza earning personal bests in each, respectively.
The competition will continue tomorrow morning, with the men's javelin in Tuscaloosa and the decathlon 110m hurdles in College Station.
