No. 11 Bulldogs Win Sixth in a Row, Defeat Rebels in Oxford

OXFORD, Miss. – The 11^th ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs bested the Ole Miss Rebels, 5-2, in Oxford on Friday to extend their win streak to six.

The day started with two doubles victories by Bulldog pairs Dusan Milanovic and Michal Novansky, and No. 2 Benito Sanchez Martinez and Petar Jovanovic. Sanchez Martinez and Jovanovic clinched the doubles point for MSU, which is their 10^th of the season together as a pair.

Singles wins from No. 41 Sanchez Martinez, No. 61 Jovanovic, Milanovic and No. 97 Baroni completed the victory over the Rebels in that order. Milanovic earned his first singles clinch of the season for MSU by defeating Benjamin Martin, 7-6(5), 7-6(0).

Match Notes

Mississippi State's win streak has now been extended to six, and all six of their wins have been ranked.
The Bulldogs surpassed their SEC win total from last season (9) with the win tonight.
Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez now have 52 career doubles wins together with their win tonight, which is good for second-place all-time. They need five more doubles wins together to tie Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic for first place in school history.
Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez have not lost in SEC doubles play yet. They are 11-0, and eight of their wins have been over ranked opponents inside the top 40. Their 11 game win streak is a career best for both players as well.
The duo also now have earned 14 ranked wins on the year, which is the most by a pair in the SEC.
No. 41 Sanchez Martinez extended his win streak to nine in singles play since he defeated Noah Schlagenhauf, 6-4, 6-4. The nine wins in a row is a career-best for the German.
He is also now tied for the most doubles clinches on the team with Martinez Serrano (11).
No. 61 Jovanovic also secured a singles victory tonight against Isac Stromberg, 6-4, 6-4, to extend his win streak to six.
Dusan Milanovic had to fight through two tiebreakers, but ended up victorious over Benjamin Martin, 7-6(5), 7-6(0). This victory marks his first singles clinch of the season for the Bulldogs.
No. 97 Niccolo Baroni came back stronger than ever from his injury last week. He defeated Loan Lestir in his first match back, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
