A Record Falls On Day One Of Split Weekend
February 14, 2025 | Track & Field
Competition in Clemson began with the women's field events, highlighted by Alexandra Inglis, who earned her third consecutive personal best in the pole vault. The sprinters put up solid performances in the 60m, with Fakorede advancing to the semifinal in the event. He extended his MSU third all-time finish in the 60m, running a new personal best of 6.58. He won the final, running to match his prelims time of 6.60.
The action continues in Clemson with Christion Barker and Jessicka Woods earning personal bests in the 400m, both less than a second off the MSU all-time lists. All three Bulldogs in the 600m, Anje Nel, Madison Gardner and Alfonso Hale Jr. earned personal bests in the event to cap off the day.
Competition in Vanderbilt began with the men's and women's weight throws, with Wright earning a personal best and extending her MSU third all-time mark. Marie Rougetet made her collegiate debut in the event as well, advancing to the final. The track events began with the women's mile, with Hayley Ogle, Ramat Jimoh, Trinity Holland and Gracie Gibson earning personal bests.
Hassan joined the sub-4 mile club, running a new personal best of 3:59.18 in the event. He surpasses the program record that he previously set last weekend at the Charlie Thomas Invitational. He is now the first man in MSU history to run below four minutes in the mile indoors.
The day continued with the men's 600m Invite, with Omari Hammond and Jamel Brown running lifetime bests, followed by a win by Curt Carman in the open section. The final event for the Bulldogs was the women's 5000m, with Madison Jones running a lifetime best, and Louise Stonham making her collegiate debut in the event.
The Bulldogs will continue competition tomorrow morning, starting with the women's high jump in Clemson and the women's open 3000m in Nashville.
