Francis Has Career Night In Victory Over Alabama State
December 17, 2025 | Women's Basketball
STARKVILLE – Freshman Madison Francis collected her first career 30-point game and was an integral part of helping the Mississippi State Bulldogs to an 11-1 record when they took down the Alabama State Hornets, 105-57.
Â
Francis became the first Bulldog freshman to score at least 30 points since 2020 when Rickea Jackson scored 34. She also joins Bulldog legends Victoria Vivians and LaToya Thomas as the only freshmen in program history to score at least 30 points in the game.
Â
"I felt like I played with more patience in this game and my teammates did a really good job finding me when I was open," Francis said about her performance. "[Their play] really contributed to the night I had."
Â
"Madison has been putting in hours behind the scenes," head coach Sam Purcell said of his standout freshman. "That's what I want people to know. The reason she had 30 tonight is because she worked for it."
Â
Favour Nwaedozi recorded another 20 points, scoring just one under her career high set last game against Southern Miss. Nwaedozi also collected six rebounds in the contest and went 8-9 from the field.
Â
Chandler Prater earned her third consecutive double double after scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Of those 10 points, four came from free throws. She has shot 100% from the charity stripes in six games this season.
Â
Kharyssa Richardson collected her 20th career game in double figures as she scored 15 points. Richardson also brought in five rebounds in the contest. Trayanna Crisp facilitated the Bulldog from the point guard position, distributing a career-high seven assists. Â Jaylah Lampley had her sixth game scoring 10 or more points, as she finished with 12, including a pair of three pointers.
Â
The Bulldogs started strong in the contest, as they scored 34 points in the first quarter, marking their highest scoring quarter of the season and their fourth time scoring 30 or more in a quarter. State has now led by 10 or more points after the first 10 minutes in their last four games. Mississippi State also scored 62 points in the paint, the most points in the paint this season. Â
Â
The Bulldogs hit the road for the final time in non-conference play as they will take on the La Salle Explorers in Philadelphia, Pa. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on ESPN+.
