TEAM NOTES
- Mississippi State made it back-to-back wins and improved to 6-5 after an 87-83 victory over Long Island on Tuesday evening at Humphrey Coliseum. Â
- The Bulldogs built a 17-8 advantage over the opening 6:42 of the contest as Shawn Jones Jr. connected with Josh Hubbard for a three-pointer.
- Long Island pulled within 39-38 at halftime courtesy of Malachi Davis' 12 points in the opening half.
- The second 20 minutes featured seven ties and 10 lead changes.
- Trailing 76-71 at the 4:40 mark, State used a strong finishing kick for the second straight game as the Bulldogs tallied 16 of the game's final 23 points.
- Jayden Epps and Josh Hubbard brought the Maroon and White to finish line with a combined 13 points down the stretch.
- Hubbard ignited the run with seven consecutive points, while Epps put State up for good, 80-79, on a pair of free throws with 2:42 remaining. Â
- State has won both meetings over the Sharks and improved to 4-0 all-time against the Northeast Conference.

- His 34 points equaled his 2nd highest scoring performance in his career and marked his 5th career game with 30+ points.
- Secured double figures for the 10th time in 11 games this season and for the 73rd game in his career.
- Hubbard's 34 points helped him surpass Charles Rhodes (2005-06-07-08), Cameron Burns (1989-90-91) and Ravern Johnson (2008-09-10-11) to claim sole possession of 15th place on State's all-time scoring list with 1,478 points.
- The junior guard enters Saturday's game with Memphis 14 points shy from passing Tony Watts (1989-90-91-92) for 14th place.
