
Cross Country Concludes Season With Standout Performances At Regionals

TALLAHASSEE, Fla – Mississippi State cross country completed the 2024 season at the South Region Championships Friday morning.
The team finished 10th out of 31 teams, earning 278 points, te highest finish by State since the mid 2010's.Â
"I'm super proud of the team and the season we've had," assistant coach Erinn Stenman-Fahey said. "Our performance today was a true team effort and it's been fun seeing them find their confidence and grow together throughout the season. We've made big strides as a program and I'm excited to keep building of this."
Ramat Jimoh and Gabrielle Boulay have been strong contenders and staple athletes for State this season. Jimoh crossed the line at 20:33.8 in the 24th spot, a 20 place improvement from her 2023 performance. Boulay finished immediately after, matching Jimoh's time of 20:33.8 (+0.1) to earn 25th. Both athletes earned All-Region honors, the first athletes to do this for State since 2016.
Next to cross the line was Hayley Ogle, Hunter Anderson and Mallory Streetman. In her final cross country race, Ogle crossed the line at 21:18.0 to finish 66th. Anderson finished 81st clocking in at 21:40.4, with Streetman shortly behind earning 82nd and running 21:40.9. All three athletes earned career high finishes for the South Region Championships in this race.
Morgan Grace Sheffield and Kaitlyn Burge served as the team's displacers for the race. In their first South Region appearance, Sheffield clocked in at 21:45.8 and Burge at 22:03.4.
The Bulldogs now prepare for the indoor track and field season, set to begin in January.
