
Bulldogs Fall In Series Opener At No. 24 Texas A&M

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Mississippi State dropped the series opener at No. 24 Texas A&M on Saturday, 9-1, in six innings.
An error and a sacrifice fly led to two Aggie runs in the first, and Texas A&M (23-13, 6-7 SEC) added a third in the third. State (23-14, 3-6 SEC) got a run back in the fifth to cut the lead, but the Aggies scored twice in the fifth and four times in the sixth to end the ballgame.
Macy Graf singled and scored in the fifth. She has now reached base in all nine of MSU's SEC games. Jackie McKenna singled in a pinch-hitting appearance, and Paige Cook also had a hit in the game.
Aspen Wesley struck out five in 5.0 innings of work. Only three of her five runs allowed were earned.
Keely Williams opened the inning with a single through the left side. Koko Wooley hit into a fielder's choice at third base, but the throw to retire Williams was wide of the bag. Williams took third, and Wooley took second on the overthrow. Trinity Cannon reached on a fielder's choice to the shortstop, but the throw home was not in time as Williams scored. Cannon then advanced to second while the catcher had the ball. Julia Cottrill then hit a ball to the shortstop, and the throw home was in time to retire Wooley. However, Cannon reached third and Cottrill again advanced to second while the catcher had the ball. Aiyana Coleman then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Cannon.

Williams walked, but she was retired when Wooley grounded into a fielder's choice. The throw the complete the double play went into the dugout, allowing Wooley to reach second. She then stole third. With two outs, Cottrill singled through the left side to score Wooley.

She took third on the error. With two outs, Cottrill singled off the pitcher to score Williams. Cottrill then scored from first on Coleman's double to right-center field.

Bre Warren singled to open the inning and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Allie Enright singled through the left side to advance Warren to third. Enright stole third. Amari Harper singled to left-center field to score both runners and took second on the throw. Williams flied out to center to move Harper to third. Wooley singled to right to score Harper then advanced two bases on a wild pitch. Cannon hit a sacrifice fly to score Wooley to end the game.
