BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference has announced the 28 student-athletes that will participate in the SEC Career Tour in Atlanta, Georgia, on Nov. 28-30. Mississippi State will be represented by Sema'J Daniels (track and field) and Riley Hull (softball).
Â
This marks the seventh time (2016-19, 21-23) student-athletes from each SEC university will convene in Atlanta to participate in the Career Tour leading up to the SEC Football Championship Game. The event was held virtually in 2020.
Â
Daniels, a sprinter from Shelby, Mississippi, has be a key part of the Bulldogs' relay teams. This spring he helped clock the fourth-fastest indoor 4x400m relay time in school history and he was a member of the outdoor 4x400m team that qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. He contributed to the team score at the SEC Outdoor Championships with a seventh-place finish in the 4x100m relay.
Â
Hull, a junior infielder from Somerset, Kentucky, made 31 starts at first base in the spring. She struck out in just 5.8 percent of her plate appearances on the season, which ranked fifth in the SEC, and walked in 22.1 percent, which ranked 15th nationally. Hull delivered a walk-off, two-run single against South Carolina to open SEC play in 2023. She boasts a career .992 fielding percentage, which would be a school record.
Â
The goal of the career tour is to provide exposure for SEC student-athletes who are seeking career opportunities in various fields. The program allows student-athlete to connect with human resource recruiters and submit resumes for entry-level jobs, internships and gain valuable knowledge of professional branding.
Â
The group is scheduled to visit the headquarters and meet with executives at several corporations and organizations in the Atlanta area including Mercedes Benz Stadium, Jackson Spalding, Microsoft, Learfield and Trilith Studios. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey will also meet with the group.
