
Softball Takes On USM Tuesday at Nusz Park

STARKVILLE, Miss. – With Super Bulldog Weekend in the rear view, Mississippi State (23-20) turns its attention to a non-conference midweek with Southern Miss (23-23).
Tuesday's first pitch between the Bulldogs and Golden Eagles is set for 6:04 p.m. CT. The two sides met earlier this season in Mobile, Alabama on February 20 where State defeated USM 6-0. A game that saw freshman pitcher Cori Cooper have a no-hitter snapped with one out in the seventh inning.

Admission is free for all regular season games at Nusz Park.

State spent Super Bulldog Weekend with No. 11 LSU and after the Bulldogs took game one 7-2 on Friday, the Tigers took the final two games, including a 12-inning marathon in Saturday's game two. Earlier in the week, MSU took a road midweek from LA Tech 3-2 in comeback fashion Wednesday.
TEAM & PLAYER NOTES
· MSU moved up five spots to No. 33 in this week's NCAA RPI rankings, while the SEC sits in first among conference RPIs.
· Entering Tuesday, the Bulldogs have played the ninth-toughest schedule in the nation.
· Senior Kayla Winkfield's five triples this season rank first in the SEC and eighth in all of Division I. Winkfield is averaging 0.12 triples per game which ranks 17th in the country.
· In four games last week, junior Caroline Seitz went 6-for-15 (.400) at the plate with a pair of doubles and six RBI, four of which game in game one Friday night against No. 11 LSU.
· Junior Katie Anne Bailey leads the Bulldogs in at bats (138), doubles (7), RBI (25), slugging percentage (.435) and total bases (60), while Winkfield leads State in batting average (.314), runs (27), triples (5) and stolen bases (14).
ON DECK FOR MSU
State will return to SEC play this weekend with a three-game road series against No. 1 Florida that will begin Friday, April 22 at 5 p.m. CT. Friday's contest will air on SEC Network+ which can be viewed through WatchESPN.com and the Watch ESPN app.
